I MADE THIS VIDEO BECAUSE OF SEEING WAY TOO MANY DRUMMERS ON YOU TUBE TEACHING THINGS THEY CAN'T REALLY PLAY. IF YOU ARE TEACHING A DOUBLE STROKE ROLL YOU SHOULD HAVE A PRETTY GOOD DOUBLE STROKE ROLL,RIGHT? IF YOU DON'T ,SORRY, BUT I FEEL THIS IS CRAZY AND EVEN DANGEROUS.A LOT OF GREAT METHODS ARE BEING LOST. IT'S IMPORTANT FOR ME TO SHARE SOME STANDARDS IN DRUMMING IN A COMMUNITY THAT DOESN'T ...

Tony use the timpani position (not only) and you can look on the videos - he hit the skin with the maximum power he can - maybe a lot of drummer can go faster than him, but they don't hit as strong as Tony , and have half of his sound - the SOUND ! You dont have the sound ! only the timpani position can make this sound so loud .

@@ACLOCKWORKDRUMMER Sorry, I don't want to say you play badly ! I just talk about SOUND - - - - - - Tony has alway in mind the SOUND - and since "spring" to his big yellow drum, the difference with the over is the sound - and today, all the drummer have the same sound .😎

I studied a total of 14 years with Mr. Adler over a 30 year period, usually with weekly lessons. I wonder why you did not mention the all important arch between the thumb and the forefinger and the also important turn of the wrist which rotates. The arch is vital to the strength of the fulcrum and the wrist turn causes the stick to have a curved path instead of straight up and down. All great technical drummers, such as Buddy Rich, Louie Bellson, and Billy Cobham play this way, where the arch is very noticeable and never collapses.

Thanks for being awesome 😎 and I wanted to say that when an artist dies like Tony little or Lady Joplin Hendrix Cobain etc .. the magic of the music they gave us echoes through eternity as the best examples of what human kind ever made or played... All hail the brave and the clever who fell from the realm of mortals and became one with eternity 🤘

I have recently discovered your channel and just wanted to say thank you for acknowledging Mr. Henry Adler. Like you say, he is (Unfortunately) a forgotten teacher and his system for hand development technique is the best. I did not study with Henry, but I was taught his methods by one of his students. It completely changed my approach to drumming and I am forever grateful. Fortunately, I had the privilege of meeting Mr. Adler a few times even though he wasn't my teacher directly. Thanks again for the videos. Great channel!

@@ACLOCKWORKDRUMMER It made my day finding this! You're right, many don't understand the Adler approach. You either get or you don't. There aren't many of us out there it seems, but all we can do is try and keep his legacy alive. Keep up the good work and don't give up. 👍👍

I've been a huge Jim Gordon fan since I was a teenager back in the '60s, and I didn't even know it till years later. His drums were on so many big albums and major hits of the day, but I never knew his name until I first learned about him in the Joe Cocker-- Derek and the Dominoes--- Delaney and Bonnie era. All these years later, I've done a lot of personal searching to seek out his recordings. Going right back to the early '60s as a teenager with the Everly Brothers, and then becoming the Number 2 session drummer in LA after Hal Blaine..... His legacy is incredible. Thanks to UA-cam I can hear a huge amount of his work. Jim could play any style of music with any artist, and his time and his groove are incomparable. His mental illness is a real tragedy, but this can never take away from his awesome, God-given musical talent.
